Assuming you have the Mongoose Metrics code properly embedded on your site, and the correct replace settings in place, the first place you should look is in your campaign's Publishings - Missed report.
When you first sign into your Mongoose Metrics dashboard click "Data Insights" and then "Publishings - Missed".
Under the Debug Information section, look for messages like the following:
Campaign is set to track PPC and incoming keyword is O:
This means that although in the Edit Campaign section for this campaign you set this campaign to track PPC leads, these entries are coming in as O (Organic).
To remedy this, you should check your PPC URLS to ensure they are structured properly for accurate reporting.
Bad PPC URL:
In the above example, all it provides is the domain name and the mongoose metrics code parameter. It gives no indication as to what type of URL it is and no way to know where it came from. Because of these missing parameters, the system assumes this is an Organic click, and logs the information in the debug report accordingly.
Good PPC URL:
In the above example, the domain name, the campaign code, keyword capture parameter, source, type and adwords campaign information are all caputured. The keyword parameter ensures the number replacement occurs, the utm_source provides the location of the lead, and the utm_medium insures that the lead gets recorded as a PPC/CPC lead. The 'xxxx' under utm_campaign should be replaced with the actual name of the campaign in Adwords.
Always refer to your Session campaign's Setup Instructions for the proper PPC URL formatting.
No Numbers in pool to assign for campaign, no default number found in the pool:
This error means that all the numbers in the pool have been exhausted, and there are no numbers currently available. When this happens, number replacements will no longer occur on the site.
The session product works by assigning a pool of numbers to a specified campaign. As each unique visitor is brought to the website (via a PPC URL in this case), a number replacement occurs. That number is pulled from the pool of numbers designated for the campaign, and is cached and cookied into the visitor's browser for up to 12 hours from their initial visit. No other visitor within that geographic area (based on the IP address) will get that number during this 12 hour period.
To remedy this, please contact your sales representative to inquire about adding more numbers to your campaign pools.
